Who are we?

Ethical Solar are award winning solar panel installers. Run by a small, energetic and dedicated team, we very much believe in getting the job done right. We have installed hundreds of systems, and whilst most of our work is domestic we’ve installed larger systems on farms and community buildings as well. Some of our better known clients include Bristol City Council, Bristol Power CIC, Bristol Energy Coop and The Wildlife Trust.

Our main office is in Bristol and we have smaller offices in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

We have been in business since January 2010 and have many more years of renewables, roofing and electrical experience within the team. We are accredited by MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme), REAL and the CPA.

What makes us Ethical?

At Ethical Solar we are passionate about the environment and doing things the right way. We set up the company to try and make a difference to the world, and we’re encouraged by the potential for solar energy to offer a positive change for us all. All our staff are very much behind this ethos.

We believe it’s important to look at the bigger, sustainable picture when offering our services. The solar systems we install are some of the most sustainable systems available to the UK market and have the lowest embedded carbon possible. We run our vehicles on waste vegetable oil; we buy everything possible (apart from your system components!) secondhand; we use low impact methods within our offices; and we source panels that are both made using renewable energies as well as being top performers in independent field tests.

We are the first company in the UK to be installing recycled solar panels; these are brand new panels that use the waste of the industry to create very high quality new modules.

Ethical Solar also strives to support charities and community organisations that share our values. We are working with energy charities and transition groups for whom we can offer special discounts and a referral reward scheme. If this applies to you or a group you know of then please get in touch. We have given away thousands of pounds to some great projects.

In addition to MCS accreditation, we are also proud holders of the Ethical Award from the Ethical Company Organisation, members of the REAL consumer awareness scheme and the Consumer Protection Association.

We pride ourselves on being reliable and honest solar panel installers. We offer free advice without any expectation and won’t install a solar system unless you have the right location for one.

Finally, we deliver guaranteed quality. Our installations are covered by a 10-year insurance backed guarantee on workmanship. Our products come with separate manufacturers’ warranties – for example, our panels come with a performance guarantee of 25 years.
