Why Ethical
We at Ethical Solar are passionate about the environment and doing things the right way. We set up the company to try and make a difference to the world through installing solar panels, and all our staff believe deeply in this ethos as well. We believe it is important to look at the bigger sustainable picture when offering our services. We believe that our installed solar panel systems have the lowest embedded carbon available; we run our vans and vehicles on waste vegetable oil; and we source solar panels that are both made using renewable energies and come out as top performers (in terms of generation performance) in independent field tests.
We only install systems that:
- We believe will perform better than any other possible solar panel installations
- Will stand up to the test of time (we believe your system should last 40 years)
- Have the lowest amount of energy (and pollution) used in their creation (giving you a energy payback period of less than two years)
More than all of the above we believe that it shouldn’t cost you more to do the job right and being Ethical means installing a system that you as owner and we as installer can be proud of, without it costing the earth.
Our Beliefs
A higher quality product will invariably last longer. It will keep on performing as it was designed to for longer before it finally needs replacing. And so over its lifespan it will have consumed less valuable resources than an inferior product that will have been replaced many times.
That’s why we only install the best quality products that are available and do so without cutting corners. Because ultimately the best thing we can do for the environment is to make our installs last a real long time.
Our Purpose
Why are we in the solar business? For us it is not as simple to make a profit. Like any company we require a profit to stay in business. But it is not the reason we are in business. The thing that has not changed from day one is the desire to help people reduce their own impact on the planet and to do so in the right way. This is, and always will be, why we are in business.
We also strive to support charities and community organisations that share our values. We are working with energy charities and transition groups to support them with getting their projects off the ground and in offering discounts to individual members.
For the occasional project that we really believe may not have the capital available we are happy to look at installs at cost or at less than cost with some kind of profit share built in. Please ask about this.
In addition to MCS accreditation, we are also proud holders of the Ethical Award from the Ethical Company Organisation, members of the REAL consumer awareness scheme and the Consumer Protection Association.
