Ground Mounted Solar for a Fishery in Somerset

Ethical Solar are excited to announce the completion of a 10kW ground mounted solar system at Exe Valley Fishery.

Our customer had a domestic system installed back in July 2011 and decided to come back to us for a second larger installation at Exe Valley Fishery. The 10kW solar array is made up of 43 of our favourite low carbon Innotech modules.

Here’s something to celebrate: The UK reaches Grid Parity with Solar PV

Prices of solar materials have come down, technology has an extended lifetime and conventional electricity bills are ever rising (20% annually).

The result; the cost of electricity supplied by the grid is equal to that of the electricity supplied by a solar system.

Latest on the Feed-in Tariff Court Case

The Court of Appeal has just confirmed that they have rejected the Government appeal to overturn the High Court ruling. The basis of the Court of Appeal ruling was that under the Energy Act 2008 the Government does not have the power to change the feed-in tariff rates retrospectively, and therefore any change must come after the process of consultation and then Parliamentary Procedure taking 40 days.

The Government loses Feed-in Tariff Appeal

The solar panel revolution resumes as it looks likely that the higher feed-in tariff rates will apply to all solar systems installed before the 3rd March 2012!

The Court of Appeal has insisted today that DECC’s decision to cut the tariffs before the end of its official consultation period was unlawful. This ruling will now stand despite the governments appeal.
What is both important and promising about this outcome is that it means the Government cannot retrospectively change feed-in tariff contracts.

High Courts decision on the feed-in tariff delayed

The High Court’s decision following the governments appeal last Friday (13th January) has been delayed following leaving us in Limbo once again. Subsequently prices for solar panels and complete systems have never been so low. Even if the court decides to accept the governments appeal next week investing in solar panels still offers a great financial return.
