Our Products
We have put a lot of effort into configuring the very best installations possible. We have carefully selected all our suppliers on the basis of their ethical story behind things, efficiency, reducing system losses, component performance and value. Here are a few of our products.
We use solar panel products that have been tried and tested on large-scale solar farm installations to ensure they are of the highest quality and incredibly reliable. All the solar products we install are guaranteed and our work also comes with a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee.
One consideration when buying solar products and services, is the amount of CO2 used to produce them – this is know as embodied CO2. Clearly we want to reduce as much CO2 as possible. It’s this CO2 that is thought to cause global warming as a major greenhouse gas.
When choosing a solar installation we think that the level of embodied CO2 is especially important, as the lower the CO2 footprint of an installed system, the faster it will pay back the CO2 and energy used to create it. We have invested significant time and effort to ensure our installations have the very lowest levels of embodied CO2 possible.
REC Modules
REC are a Norwegian company that locate their factories at hydropower stations and have developed a production process that dramatically reduces the embedded carbon within their panels.
They are a large producer and their modules are consistently coming at or near the top of independent outdoor testing platforms. They came a close second in the 2010 largest independent test of panel performance. They are known as a Class One bankable panel meaning that they are in the highest category of panels approved for use in large-scale investment projects and solar farms. In our opinion they are the best modules on the market. It is worth noting in this respect that there is over a 13% performance difference even between brand name panels when tested in the real world.

Recycled Modules
Our recycled (or actually, ‘up-cycled’) solar panels are possibly the most cost effective and greenest solar PV panels on the market. They are manufactured from cells that have been fully reconditioned after falling short during preliminary testing, and would otherwise be disposed of would be or destined for third rate plastic toys and gadgets.
They only use wafers from the best manufacturers and because of the obvious sensitivity of ‘recycled panels’ they are very careful to make sure they are all top quality. They are very good value its these panels that the Ethical Solar team are installing on their own properties. They have recently been used to cover the entire roof of the Audi Head Quarters in Germany. Take a look at the article bellow for more details about the recycling process.
SMA inverters
SMA inverters are the industry leaders, though they are guaranteed for five years they should last a good deal longer. They have invested heavily in sustainable production, and they are made using a significant percentage of renewable energy. We like them a lot.
We are also now installing transformer-less inverters wherever possible, we’ll explain this to you if you like, but basically it means that your getting a more efficient inverter with a longer life span that operates better at lower voltages (perfect for cloudy and low light days).
SMA also offers a full monitoring system that will allow you to clearly monitor your system, check that everything is working as it should and enables to us to efficiently fault find should anything go wrong.
Mounting System
We also consider our roof mounting systems to be the best on the market, we use the Alpha roof mount system, which is all made form high quality alloys and stainless steel. It also allows us to slightly pitch up panels installed on lower pitch roofs.
Our own fully recycled system is awaiting approval but should be available later this summer.
Recycled components
As an example of how we are further striving to reduce the environmental footprint of your installations we are developing a roof mounting structure that is made from recycled metals. We have worked very hard to be able to find system components that are made from recycled materials (the components in your installation will be newly made, but will come with a lower footprint). This isn’t yet true across everything we install, but we will get there!
Our guarantees, insurance and working Health and Safety Procedures
We work hard at running clean, tidy and safe sites, we have full liability insurance are fully accredited by REAL and the CPA. We give you a 10 year insurance backed (in case we stop trading) warranty against any faulty workmanship with your system and are always happy to provide whatever level of follow up service you require.
