The production of gas and electricity is causing irreplaceable damage to our planet
Why Solar?
Solar is the fastest growing energy source in the world, and for good reason. It offers a limitless supply of clean, safe, renewable electricity.
Installing solar panels makes sense financially, for both homeowners and businesses.
For the wider community, solar will help us reach energy security and a cleaner future for our children, grandchildren and generations thereafter!
ABUNDANT, UNLIMITED AND FREE
Abundant
Solar energy is the most abundant renewable energy source in the UK, and is more available than wind, biomass, hydro, geothermal or ocean waves.
Unlike the other resources, which are available only in certain places, usable sunlight falls everywhere in the country.
Solar’s large energy-generating potential comes from its ability to be deployed in small-scale installations distributed throughout the UK.
Unlimited and free
The sun’s energy is not depleted when we use it, and it is available free of charge to the entire planet. Finite energy resources, such as fossil fuels, are subject to market volatility and escalating prices.
CLEAN AND SILENT
It’s Clean…
Solar energy is clean energy. It creates electricity without the waste and pollution of gas, coal and nuclear power stations. It can substantially offset the need for this ‘dirty’ electricity, whilst emitting no global warming pollution.
…and Silent
No noise pollution is created. Solar power is very nearly silent.
VALUABLE
It’s Valuable!
As of April 2010, electricity produced from solar panels will be worth a premium under the government’s ‘Clean Energy Cash Back’ Scheme. The scheme runs for 25 years for solar electricity, which is the longest of all the renewable energy schemes.
It will also add value to your property or business premises.
LESS WASTEFUL
Solar energy systems installed on homes or businesses capture and use the sun’s energy right where the energy is needed. Up to 10% of the electricity generated at central power plants is lost in transmission and distribution.
RISING ELECTRICITY PRICES
Many areas rich in fossil fuels are also potential conflict hotspots. During conflict supply can be reduced which leads to price increases.
If you produce your own electricity you are less affected by price increases. We believe the price of domestic electricity will rise in the near future because:
- The Clean Energy Cash Back Scheme will be paid for by the consumer, not the government. To enable the electricity companies to pay 41.3p a unit for your solar electricity, they will have to increase the price they charge for the electricity they sell to everybody else.
- The price of the fossil fuels (Oil, Gas and Coal) we rely on to create our electricity is increasing. As densely populated countries such as Brazil, China and India continue to grow economically, their demand for fossil fuels increase. This increases global demand, which leads to prices increasing.
Therefore, installing a solar energy system not only reduces consumption of limited resources but also reduces the long-term energy costs of your home or business.
